The Confirmation class at Kent UCC is designed for 8th graders to develop and claim a more mature Christian faith.  Participants are guided in exploration of Christian theology and community through reading and class discussion, guest speaker presentations, service-learning projects, and ecumenical and interfaith encounters including services at a synagogue and a mosque, and sharing a Hindu festival of lights celebration.  Also, each participant is paired with a mentor, a respected member of the church who walks with the confirmand as s/he explores the faith.  The class is taught by the Rev. Jason Bricker Thompson with the support of other church staff, lay leaders and parents.  Class meetings begin at 9:30 a.m., Sundays, in room 127, immediately followed by all members of the class attending the 10:30 a.m. worship service in the sanctuary.

 

For the 2010-2011 program year, Kent UCC and Tallmadge UCC will share an opening retreat and several field trips and service projects for their Confirmation programs.
