Women’s Square One

A women’s group that meets to foster and promote faith, fellowship, and meaningful relationships among women of the church. Square One meets on the first Saturday of the month from 9:30 am to noon. On the first weekend in March, the Square organizes its annual retreat.

Joy Circle

A women’s group that meets every second Wednesday at 1:00 pm. The Joy Circle’s mission is to serve, enjoy fellowship, and worship God.

Quilters

Anyone working on a quilting, sewing, or other craft project is welcome to bring that project and work on it while enjoying fellowship and conversation. The Quilters sometimes collaborate on a group project. The Quilters meet on Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the church.

Book Club

Open to anyone, this book club discusses what they’re reading over a potluck dinner. Books are chosen by participants. This group meets on the third Saturday of the month from 6:00 to 9:00 pm in members’ homes.

Men’s Bagels and Books

This men’s book club includes breakfast and discussion on books of substance chosen by participants. Men’s Bagels and Books meets on Thursday at a coffee shop from 7:00 to 8:30 am.

Men’s Bread Making Group

Men Baking Bread brings men who love making all types of freshly baked bread together or who would like to learn how. More than just baking bread, they are developing a wider mission at Kent UCC. All men are welcome and no skill level is required. The cost (usually $1.00–$2.50/per loaf) will be shared. The bakers meet on the first and third Tuesdays of the month in the church kitchen from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

Men’s Prayer Breakfasts

Wednesday Breakfast: Every Wednesday, 7:30 to 8:30 am men gather for conversation and fellowship at a favorite local restaurant.

Saturday Breakfast: On the first Saturday of the month from 8:00 to 9:00 am, men gather for conversation and fellowship at a legendary Kent diner.

J-Walkers

J-Walkers, named for following in Jesus’ footsteps and also for living a countercultural faith, meets after worship twice a month from 11:15 am–12:45 pm. Youth who are in 6th–8th grades are welcome to participate in fun, faith, and fellowship activities. In 2018, the J-Walkers led Kent United Church of Christ in becoming an “Accessible to All” (A2A) congregation in the United Church of Christ. They help set tables and prepare the meal for the third Sunday Community Outreach Meal, and participate in service projects with United Youth Force (UYF) in the fall and spring.

United Youth Force (UYF)

The United Youth Force (UYF) is a youth group ministry with and for high school students. It is open to anyone in that age group! We meet each Sunday from 4:00–6:00 pm during the school year to participate in a diverse array of activities, including service, fellowship, and faith education. The group emphasizes the importance of relationships—to one another, to the church, to the community, and to the Divine—as well as service. We take seriously our call to serve God, one another, and our community. At the beginning of each school year, UYF participates in an opening lock-in, and a winter retreat each January. In August 2012, UYF began a third Sunday Community Outreach Meal, which serves a hot meal to members of the Kent community. The meal now involves all generations of the church to help cook, serve, and clean up the meal each month.
