We are an open and affirming (ONA) and an accessible to all (A2A) congregation. So whoever you are, wherever you are on your life’s journey, you truly are welcome—and will be accepted and loved—for just being you. We advocate justice for all and extend hospitality as a sign of God's inclusive love. We insist that Christ's communion table is open, not closed, and God's gift and claim in baptism are irrevocable. We teach that evangelism — offering bread to those in search of it — is God's mission. Our perspective is global, not provincial. A spiritual home, church family, and community center, we strive to offer extravagant hospitality, unconditional acceptance and inspiration to all who walk through our doors or worship with us virtually. Why? Because God is still speaking.
A spiritual home, church family, and community center, we strive to offer extravagant hospitality, unconditional acceptance and inspiration to all who walk through our doors or join us for virtual worship.
Our Adult Education classes meet on Sunday mornings and are a blend of Bible study, book studies, discussion, and spiritual formation.
Our children join us for the beginning of worship. After the children’s sermon, ages pre-K to 7th grade participate in their own Sunday School classes.
Our regular worship service is on Sundays at 10:00 am. It’s a blend of Christian tradition with contemporary and multicultural elements, all grounded in scripture and focused on our relationship with the Living God. Services include our historic pipe organ, Chancel Choir, Handbell Choir, Children’s Worship Team, liturgical dance, our grand piano, scripture lessons and dynamic preaching. Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month throughout the year. Our children join us for the beginning of worship and then, after the Children’s sermon, attend Sunday School.
Worship begins at 10:00 am on Sundays. A greeter will welcome you, and one of our ushers will give you a worship bulletin. In worship sit wherever you would like. From September to May we worship in our sanctuary. In the summer months we worship in our air-conditioned chapel. After the service, a member of our Hospitality Ministry will greet you and offer you a Welcome Bag. And our pastor would love to connect with you!
You are welcome just as you are.
You can bring your young children into the service with you, but we encourage you to take advantage of our wonderful and safe children’s Sunday School programs. Kent UCC adheres to a very strict “Safe Church Policy.” Children are very important to us! We always begin our worship service together as families. Not long into the service is our Children’s “Snapchat” (sermon time). After the children’s sermon, the kids are invited to go to their Sunday School classes for the rest of worship.
We also have a nursery for infants and toddlers, with two adults always present to care for our children.
