At Kent UCC, we are Open to All

Open & Affirming (ONA)

Since 2011, Kent UCC has been an Open and Affirming (ONA) congregation.  This means that the LGBTQIA+ community–people of all sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions–are welcome and embraced in the full life and ministry of our congregation (as members, leaders, and staff). Through our Open and Affirming covenant, our congregation promises to live out that welcome in meaningful ways in response to Christ’s teaching of radical hospitality and all-embracing love.

Accessible to All (A2A)

Kent UCC has made the commitment to be physically and attitudinally welcoming and embracing of people with disabilities. We believe that everybody, and every body, is an integral, important, and beloved part of Christ’s body.  We have completed a comprehensive “Accessible to All” audit of our building, worship services, and ministries to ensure that we are truly physically and programmatically accessible to persons with disabilities.

W.I.S.E.

Kent UCC is also an official W.I.S.E. congregation of the United Church of Christ.  W.I.S.E. stands for Welcoming, Inclusive, Supportive, and Engaged with those living with mental health challenges and their families.  As a church committed to extravagant welcome and acceptance, our Mental Health Ministry coordinates the efforts in our church body to engage, support, and advocate for those with mental health and addiction and recovery issues in our community.  We are a proudly stigma-free congregation.
